Give the Gift of Reading

People come to St. Paul’s east side in poverty. Families with children have nothing in their pockets. They are down, but not out. The key to their success is to provide opportunities that disrupt the cycle of poverty. ESLC disrupts poverty by building a foundation through reading. Our theme this year is superheroes, because superheroes build a better future in their communities. Our children need your help so they can choose a better future. Your gift unlocks the potential of super readers!

Ka Davenport’s sons participated in ESLC tutoring in kindergarten and first grade. When they started, they were not able to read at grade level. Ka told us:

“The results from ESLC turned out to be unbelievable. Today, both of my sons are doing so well. Now they’re tutoring my eight year old daughter. She is able to read and spell. She is now confident enough to pick a book out and read it on her own. All thanks to ESLC’s hard work”

Be a superhero for a super reader at ESLC and help our children build a better future. Give the gift of reading this holiday season.

Gifts can be mailed to ESLC at 740 York Ave, St. Paul MN 55106 or click here to donate online.

About ESLC's "Teeter Totter" Tutoring Cartoon Series

Watch our social media and web sites for more stories about the balancing act between tutor and child. Welcome to the inaugural cartoon for the East Side Learning Center. With this cartoon we celebrate all who support the ESLC and why we were started by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. As tutors, donors, staff, and our partnering schools, we all share the ESLC mission and passion for helping children read. A huge thanks of gratitude to all of you on the behalf of the children and parents of the east side!
