Tutors are Gifts!
As usual, the cafeteria at John A. Johnson was filled with laughter and excited chatter last Thursday. But it wasn’t kids from the after school program making all the racket; it was ESLC volunteers, professional tutors, staff, and board members. We celebrated another year of tutoring, and showed our gratitude to all those who make what we do possible.
It was a great opportunity to relax and enjoy each other’s company in the midst of the hectic time that is the end of the school year. We don’t often get the chance to socialize as a large group (or even as a small group), and many people expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to meet and greet their fellow tutors.
The evening featured delicious food supplied by Spirit of Asia catering. Thanks to Sue Morales and crew for providing a fantastic meal! Thanks also to Caribou Coffee for their donation of coffee for the event. We also had a photo booth where event-goers could pose with their favorite children’s book character. It was a lot of fun!
Our tutors are such gifts, and they deserve gifts too.
